public Finally Settled...Sorta
Well we've got cable and phone at least. No, really we have the bascis in place but we STILL have some stuff to clean out of the garage and furniture to set up. It's a never ending process I tell ya!

Moving Day was STRESSFUL. With a capitol S. Good lord we have so much shit! Whenever I'd get a few boxes in and think "Whew, we must be almost done." I'd look around and see...well a full apt. Ugh. I have to admit I was thinking like Buffy for a bit there. Ya know when she said she sorta pictured college like a montage of studying and such? Yeah I think I did that with packing. Though mine was a montage of packing, giggling, eating pizza and drinking beer (moving people in movies always seem to have cash on hand to treat their pals who they bribe to help move them with pizza and beer LOL), and then surveying a neat empty apt. Well truth be told, leaving still saw stuff in the apt. We just couldn't fit anythin g else in the moving truck. DH and FIL had to go back the next day but we lost some stuff due to the landlord starting to throw stuff out. Not hugely important stuff though.

The pets were surprisingly good on the way here. I expected Jett to winper and whine the whole way. Thankfully after 2 mins. of crying for me, he went to sleep. Ginger meowed from her carrier the whole time. DH and I were sniffling and stuffy the whle way because our allergies were acting up big time. We pulled into our new driveway at 2am. It's pitch balck here at that time. No street lights at all and very creepy. Plus there are deeer and stuff running about so I'm very paranoid when we do drive at night that we;ll hit something.

So we pull in at 2:30 nd right off the bat? My dingbat FIL runs over the guiding pole for the driveway and almost drives the truck into the ditch along  the driveway (More on the lanscaping and driveway another time as they both suck ass). Franz had to get oput and risk life and limb to yell, "Stop!!!" and woke up the neighbor's dogs who barked their heads off, waking our neighbors (who I later found out wakes up at 4am to go to work every day) - welcome neighbors! LOL

The first few days were pretty boring but peaceful.  Unpacking took up quite a bit of time but I also took jett for walks around the neighborhopod and revelled in the nature that is our new backyard, made friendly with the neighbors (one who actually GAVE us a washer dryer set they weren't using!) and rode around looking for places to shop for essentials. There's a Super Walmart and KMart very close and a supermarket, Subways, Radio Shack, Payless, Fashion Bug and Salvation Army close by. Also an Animal Hospital is close by. The Walmart is HUGE and gave everything from groceries with an amzing produce dept to a hairdresser and vision place. Their chpoices for healthy food are so-so besides produce though. Finding a large bag of brown rice was a lost cause as was any oatmeal not processed to death. Their best deals tend to be processed crap but they do have yogurt at veryday low prices of 50 cents for brands like Breyers and such. Clothes are cheap too. If I had like 100 bux to spare I could probably buy a starter warrobe for work. They had bras for $2.50!! LOL

Right now I'm terrified to see our electric bill as everything is electric here and we just got a washer/dryer. Luckily the nights are cool (but bug filled I am covered with mosquito bites!!) so we turn off the A/C every night (the first night we stayed here we turned it on to 68 degrees like we would our home unti and froze out butts off) and even a few days ahve been cool enough not to warrant it. Still we're running on close to fumes and I've got to find work soon.

I do miss NYC quite a bit. I miss being able to stroll down the street for a cup of joe and chat with the man down the street. I miss jumping on the train to go anywhere I want. I miss streetlights! Most of all I miss my mom and dad (shut up - you would too if you were this far - I'm not a baby...wahh!) and my sister [info]contrary_lady[info]What I don't miss is our cramped apt, the constant bug problem, our landlord refusing to help with that, and working for that sucky non-profit.

Well today will be a busy day. We invited the neighbors for dinner so we have to shop, clean and post for jobs. I'll post more on the house, neighbors, job search and more.

Ciao!
